Advocating for Education
As a father, co-founder and owner of Garabatos Spanish Preschool, and a former public high school teacher, Brian has first-hand knowledge of the complex challenges facing students, teachers, and parents. He also understands that in today's fiercely competitive global economy, strong investment in education at all levels is imperative in order to attract and retain jobs, promote homegrown innovation, and foster an informed and engaged citizenry.
Brian will work to expand early childhood education access and standards; fully fund public schools; reduce class sizes and direct more funding directly to the classroom; ensure affordable, high-quality public colleges and universities that are leaders in teaching and research.
Protecting our Quality of Life
People will continue to flock to Idaho to live--Brian would know. He came back to Idaho ten years ago, after leaving the state for college and work. Our public lands, air and water quality, transportation networks, and infrastructure are increasingly strained and threatened by rapid and uncontrolled growth. Collectively, we have a responsibility to help shape and manage growth in order to preserve that which we love about Idaho, for ourselves and for future generations.
Brian will work to preserve our public lands and open space; ensure clean air and clean water; expand public transit; make growth pay for itself.
Planning for 2050, not 1950
Idaho is growing and changing, but our Legislature is stuck in the past. The Legislature needs to understand and recognize the changing nature of the global economy; foster a diverse tax base; support small businesses, innovation and entrepreneurialism; and invest in the infrastucture that businesses need in order to thrive here. Brian will be a voice for the needs of our growing and evolving state.
Brian will work to foster a modern economy that attracts and nurtures high-tech and "green-collar" jobs; reduce carbon emissions; invest in renewable energy sources; push for funding to modernize Idaho's infrastructure; and ensure a balanced approach to our growing water and energy needs.
